Get To Know Dr. Kersty

Hey Friend!
I'm Dr. Kersty Hric
I’m a Doctor of Pharmacy, Certified Integrative Health Practitioner, and Health Coach. But long before I became a practitioner, I was the patient searching for answers.
I spent much of my life navigating chronic and complex health concerns, countless appointments, medications, and unanswered questions. That experience ultimately changed not only my health, but the direction of my career.
If you’ve ever felt like there had to be more to your health story, I understand why.

My Story
My health story started when I was five years old. I grew up with severe digestive problems, allergies, reflux, painful periods, and more doctor and hospital visits than I could count. I went through years of testing and medications, but I was often left managing symptoms without understanding why I felt the way I did.
As I got older, things became more complicated. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in high school and struggled with significant reactions to hormonal birth control. During college, my health declined even further. I developed debilitating fatigue, pain, memory problems, a high heart rate, exercise intolerance, rashes, nausea, insomnia, anxiety, and other symptoms that made everyday life difficult.
After years of searching for answers, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease and multiple co-infections. Treatment was intense. I spent years on antibiotics, had a PICC line for 18 months, underwent multiple surgeries and procedures, and at one point was taking more than 30 pills a day. Along the way, I also dealt with chronic gastritis, digestive disorders, food intolerances, hormone concerns, and the emotional toll that comes with being sick for years.
Eventually, I began looking at my health differently. Functional medicine and integrative health introduced me to the bigger picture: nutrition, gut health, stress, sleep, environmental exposures, daily habits, and how those pieces can interact with one another. Getting better wasn’t one dramatic moment. It took time, consistency, plenty of trial and error, and learning how to care for my body in a way I had never been taught.
My health still isn’t perfect, and I don’t pretend that it is. But where I am today is worlds apart from where I was a decade ago. More importantly, I know what it feels like to sit on the other side of the conversation feeling overwhelmed, dismissed, and unsure where to go next.

The Functional Medicine PharmD.
(out of the pharmacy & into the home)
My personal experience with chronic illness shaped the kind of healthcare professional I wanted to become.I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy degree and gained experience working with hundreds of patients across hospitals, outpatient settings, and pharmacies. My pharmacy background gave me a deep appreciation for medications, when they are needed, and the difference they can make. It also made me increasingly interested in the nutrition, lifestyle, environmental, and other factors that can influence health outside of medication alone.
That led me to continue my education in functional medicine and integrative health and eventually found Restorative Wellness NC, where I now provide virtual health coaching and personalized health education for people navigating chronic and complex health concerns. Today, I bring both sides of that experience into my work: the education of a PharmD and integrative health practitioner, and the perspective of someone who spent years navigating complex health concerns herself.
I take the time to listen, look beyond the surface, explain the “why” behind what we’re discussing, and give clients practical education and tools they can actually use. And when something falls outside my scope or expertise, I’ll tell you and encourage you to work with someone who can appropriately help. I believe you deserve to understand your health, ask questions, and feel like an active participant in your own care.
This Is My Why
When I say I’ve been there, I mean it. I know what it feels like to leave an appointment with more questions than answers. I know the frustration of doing everything you’ve been told and still not feeling like yourself. I know the fear that comes with wondering whether this is simply how you’re going to feel forever.
That experience is a big part of why I became the practitioner I wish I had when I was younger.
My goal isn't to promise you perfect health or pretend I have every answer. It’s to listen, help you look at the bigger picture, give you honest and practical education, and help you feel more confident navigating your health.
You know your body better than anyone. You deserve to be heard, ask questions, and have someone take the time to look at your story as a whole.
If that’s what you’ve been looking for, I’d be honored to work with you.
